AHU Replacement Project
Charlestown, MA
Project Overview
Over six years, DCBA replaced twelve air handler units on four floors of MGB’s Charlestown research facility and managed the demolition and replacement of high roof exhaust fans with a Phoenix Valve system tied to new Exhaust Air Handling Units. The work involved installing new ductwork, steel dunnage support, controls, wiring, concrete pads, plenum walls, drain boxes, and insulation, along with providing new electrical feeds for the exhaust fans and Phoenix Valves. The project required close coordination with building tenants and operations, temporary ductwork for climate control, and phased construction to minimize disruption, with crane erection carefully coordinated with MRI usage in clinical research areas.
