DCBA managed preconstruction and construction for the emergency power system at MGH’s downtown Boston hospital, including value engineering, logistical studies, and safety protocols for hoisting the emergency generator onto the roof. Construction included installing a 5,000-gallon fuel storage tank, a fuel riser, a new ATS system for the fire pump, and the 1500kw emergency generator on the roof, with power integrated across each floor. DCBA coordinated activities with MGH facilities, the adjacent library, and subcontractors to safely hoist the generator, tie in existing systems, and conduct a Life Safety Systems test to ensure all emergency circuits were successfully captured.
